Picture left in our back garden on the morning of our anniversary.
Steve specialises in the working side and his dogs work on several
local shoots. He has also judged at many local working tests.
Wendy concentrates on the show team with Steve helping out on most show days.
We have made up two show champions and also owned two other CC/RCC winners.
We bought our first showdog in 1981, Marshring Carolinas Hobbit (Benson).
He was bought as a pet, but we were tempted into showing him and we showed
him with good success locally and he also gained his stud book number.
One thing led to another and the following year a younger brother joined us:
Marshring Intrigue (Dexter). The following year Roandew Eliza Doolittle (Ella)
came along and introduced us to winning regularly at championship show level.
She was joint top puppy bitch in 1984.
This is where our affix came from: DEXter BENson and ELLA.
(This trio pictured right, in their retirement)
Unfortunately for Ella, another opportunity came along in 1986 which curtailed her
show career - I bought my first horse from Christine Savell. This was the start of an eight
year break from the show ring while I got the horse bug out of my system!! At one point we had
four horses: two thoroubreds, one arab and a TB cross that we bred ourselves.
We came back to the ring with Heulyn Village Gossip (Biddy) and Roandew Quite Quazy for Dexbenella (Sophie).
Sophie won well for us doing well at Championship Shows including winning a class at Crufts.
She was our first CC winner under breed specialist Judith Hancock.
We live in the heart of the south east of England just outside Tunbridge Wells in Kent.
We have just celebrated thirtieth wedding anniversary - see photo gallery above.
