How slack have i been with news!!!!
Early August saw a very sad day at our kennel with the loss of our Sh Ch Sheledams The Gamesmaster at Dexbenella - our first champion and a big presence in our home. Sadly missed.
Mid August was Bournemouth where I was judging and really enjoyed the day, weather was perfect and there were some fabulous dogs to go over.
We have had some good show wins over the last few months, the latest being Mac getting BEST IN SHOW yesterday at Kent County. Georgia (Dexbenella Derethea) made her debut and behaved so well and got a great 3rd. At this point I will explain her unusual name: "Derethea" is my mum's middle name and I decided to use it for her. May dad's name is "George" and that is why she is called Georgia!!!!
Leeds was a great show for us with Ziva making her post puppy re-appearance. She had a practise run the week before at an open show where she got RBOB henind Frank, and at Leeds she thrilled us by winning the PGB class. Mac won his last Junior class on this day and was shortlisted down to the last 3 in the challenge. A very pleasing day indeedy!
Olivia has just been confirmed in whelp so that is something to look forward to. We hope Kerys might be in whelp too, more on that in a few weeks!
29th MAY
I do like consecutive show days, apart from aching all over from all the running yesterday, it was a bonus for the dogs to be all pristine and ready for action. And it was Maidstone to boot - so a fab brekkie had by all (oh, and Mac was BOS and Olivia RBOB so pleasing results too).
28th May
Had forgotten what a lovely venue Bath is, have entered several times in the last few years but missed it for one reason or another. Actaully made it to the show this year and jolly glad we did!! Mac was Best Dog, Frankie runner up; Olivia won her class (sadly not enough there for a point!), Kerys and Nellie both second in their classes with Nellie being runner up bitch. A good day at the office!!!
22nd May
Can't believe I have been so slack and not updated for weeks! Apologies. We have been busy showing with some lovely wins from the team, and training the babies has been taking up time, and they will make their debut in August. they have joined us at some shows and think it is great fun!! Wickford & Basildon yesterday, Mac took BOB in a lovely entry of springers and the babies had a whale of a time.
10th April
Today was a day i will cherish forever. Easy trip to Leicester for the ESSC (parent club) championship show, judge breed specialist Ray Smith (Melverly). I didn't have a clue what sort of day we would have although I very much hoped he would like our dogs, as he and the dogs he produces are well respected in the breed. Imagine my delight when we won Junior with Mac, Undergraduate and Graduate with Olivia, Post Graduate with Kerys, Limit with Nellie and Veteran with Kizzy. (Should explain that our other regular team member Frank stayed at home with a poorly foot). This was a logisitical nightmare in the bitch challenge!! Luckily Ann Corbett and AnnSofie stepped into help (thank you both so much) and I handled Nellie. What happened next was beyond all my hopes and dreams. We won the Bitch CC with Dexbenella Drama Queen (Nellie), our first with a homebred dog, and Kizzy took the reserve BCC, I felt like the luckiest person on the planet. Kizzy also picked up the BVIS award. thank you so much to everyone that was there for their congratulations and hugs - truly the kind of day that dreams are made of.
2nd April
With the puppies taking up so much time and having spent a lot of enjoyable time with our lovely puppy buyers we have decided to skip the show tomorrow and have an "old fashioned" weekend in the house and garden. Good luck to everyone who is going. Took some pics of the pups today which i will download soon. We are lucky to have found some great families to give lovely homes to our babies and I hope they bring them much joy when they leave us in a couple of weeks.
27th March
Boot on the other foot today!!! judging at the TWDCS show, Gordons, Irish, SWD's, AVNSC Gundog, the Gundog Group and i was honoured to judge the Sue Domun Memorial Stakes. I enjoyed it immensely - thanks TWDCS for asking me.
20th March
Another visit to one of my favourite shows the South Western. Judge at this anniversary show was Cam Cavallo from Australia and I really didn;t have a clue if he would like my dogs or not. They all did me proud - and my special girl Kizzy thrilled us yet again this time with Best Bitch, Best Veteran in Show and BEST IN SHOW. What a star my girl is, how lucky i am to own her.
10th March
Busy lead up to Crufts with 5 dogs to bath and prepare. All worth the effort with some fab results, all five dogs in the top three in each of their classes. Thrilled to see Seamus (dad to Olivia and Mac) win the DCC - well done Dave and Jacky.
26th February
What a super day at the SESSS - star of our show our KIZZY - Sh Ch Trimere Total Devotion to Dexbenella BCC & BVIS. What a star she is for us, not only is she the mother of four of our lovely youngsters but she is still able to challenge the best out to veteran, she is now eight years old.
21st February
We have puppies - pleased to announce Ziva had a litter of 9 - 5 boys and 4 girls.
6th February
My favourite show today - EAST KENT - held twice a year at Maidstone this open show has fab stakes classes with great prize money on offer. Mac won two classes in the breed to gain the last two points towards his JW - thank you all my friends for being so sporting and congratulatory. In the breed and stakes classes between them Mac and Frank won a grand total of £131 whoopee!!
30th January
Not my favourite venue Reading but it was a lovely show with the biggest entry for a while. Mac won Junior and Graduate and two jw points, nice early finish and home by 2.30. . Thats what I call a successful day.
26th January
Took Steve's mum and dad racing today - had a fab meal in the Trackside Carvery and had a little flutter on each race and we managed to come away with just a 50p loss. I'd call that a result! We had a really fun day.
25th January
Went to the delay TWDCS Christmas Party tonight where they held the Dog of the Year finals. What a great week - Frank was awarded 2010 DOG OF THE YEAR. We had a great night.
23rd January
Having woken at 1.30am waiting for the alarm to go off at 3am I was really tired by the time we pulled off the drive at 4am. As I get older I am certainly getting worse at these early starts. As Steve stayed at home I was doing all the driving.
However, it was all hugely worthwhile as we had the most fabulous day. Mac won the puppy class (and some points) and ended up BPD and Best Puppy in Breed. As it was his last puppy class (it was his birthday on the day) I was really so pleased with that.
Frank won a super Limit Dog class (his sixth) and I was over the moon when he was awarded the RCC. Thank you to everyone who was so sporting, and congratulatory it made the day even more special.
Anna (Naylor, my travelling companion) also had a good day with a good place with one and a qualifer with the other, so we floated home with lots to celebrate on a cheery retunr journey.
15th January
Our first show of the year, and not a bad result. Mac won two classes and gained a jw point, he beat his sister for BPIB and was shortlisted for BPIS (an "all in" not on the gundog group sadly). He has just one more show in puppy - it seems to have come round really quickly.
At last the sun has come out and if the forecast is right we should have a few days of dry bright weather - phew!
8th January
No show news to report, our show season gets under way next Saturday.
Sadly we missed mating Kerys and Jilly the timing just wasn't right - so we will be busy in the second half of this year with litters planned from Kerys, Jill, Nellie and possibly Olivia - some re-thinking may be necessary!
