What a day!!! We headed off the London Earls Court for the JW sem finals held during Discover Dogs. We have been many times before and although been shortlisted never managed to qualify. We were drawn in the half that Martin Philips was judging, never been under him before and he was a new judge to us. As we were judged in alphabetical order we were very near the end and we had the chance to watch some stunning dogs being judged before us, there were 31 in total. At this point i totally thought although i love our boy, we would be lucky to get through. But lucky we were and Mac (Dexbenella It's About Time) was chosen in the five to go through to the finals. Totally thrilled does not start to describe how we feel. Big thank you to everyone for their support especially his sire's owners, Jacky and Dave Mitchell.
1st October
Heck of a journey to Builth Wells for SWKA - but oh so totally worth while! Both the babies qualified for Crufts but we were totally chuffed when Mac won the RCC under breed specialist Joan Palmer.
1st October
Fun day at the TWDCS companion show in aid of Hospice in the Weald. We took the babies Georgia and Ritchie and their mum Ziva, all did well, and Ritvhie thirlled us by winning Best Puppy in Show against some lovely opposition,
26th September
Fun weekend atAshford and Faversham. No breed classes, so we entered in avnsc Gundog under Angela Morgan. Thrilled when Mac won a good Open class and BAVNSC Gdg, then he won the group (again Under Angela Morgan) and finally BEST IN SHOW under Mike Capel. He also qualified for the JW Semi's - really looking forward to that. We were also thrilled that Ritchie was second in a strong junior class and also went BP and PG4.
20th September
Exciting times at Dexbenella. We have a new litter from Olivia - puppies look lovely and chunky, all you can say at this stage but we are pleased with them so far (touch wood!!). We also have news that Kerys in confirmed in whelp to Jack, due mid October. With plans to mate Nellie also in the next few weeks it's going to be busy busy busy!
There have been some good show results during late August and September. Firstly Mac got the final points he needed at Horley DCS for this Show Certificate of Merit. He has fidgeted his way to a nice couple of wins at champ shows - Birmingham and Richmond - looking foward to a few more trips out to ch shows next month where he will be joined by his son and daughter Ritchie and Georgia. Ziva also had a lovely win at Birmingham beating two ticket winning bitches.
Congratulations to Mac and Olivia's dad Seamus, Sh Ch Barecho Hold Your Horses at Peasblossom for a fabuous few weeks, G2 and Bournemouth an d/darlingotn, and Group winner at Birmingham. Way to go Seamus!!
23rd August
Early August saw a very sad day at our kennel with the loss of our Sh Ch Sheledams The Gamesmaster at Dexbenella - our first champion and a big presence in our home. Sadly missed.
Mid August was Bournemouth where I was judging and really enjoyed the day, weather was perfect and there were some fabulous dogs to go over.
We have had some good show wins over the last few months, the latest being Mac getting BEST IN SHOW yesterday at Kent County. Georgia (Dexbenella Derethea) made her debut and behaved so well and got a great 3rd. At this point I will explain her unusual name: "Derethea" is my mum's middle name and I decided to use it for her. May dad's name is "George" and that is why she is called Georgia!!!!
Leeds was a great show for us with Ziva making her post puppy re-appearance. She had a practise run the week before at an open show where she got RBOB henind Frank, and at Leeds she thrilled us by winning the PGB class. Mac won his last Junior class on this day and was shortlisted down to the last 3 in the challenge. A very pleasing day indeedy!
